『電影少女 -VIDEO GIRL AI-』のタイトルで1991年に実写映画化されている。監督は以前より桂の知人であった金田龍が務めた。同時上映は『ふしぎの海のナディア』。 桂正和の人気コミックスを映像化。同級生もえみへ自分の気持ちが伝えられない内気な高校生洋太。そんなある日、洋太がレンタルビデオで借りたビデオの画面から不思議な少女あいが飛び出し、洋太とともえの恋を実らせようと提案する……。The world of fantasy meets reality when a mysterious girl leaps out of video and into the life of a boy with a broken heart. The video was a recommendation and borrowed from a video store. The boy is in love and the video girl could act as cupid, but due to the nature of the encounter they only have a short time.
