It is a new kind of telescope, as high as a church tower, invented by the astronomer Friedrich William Herschel, the discoverer of Uranus. In the following this afternoon becomes an impressing collision of Haydn's traditional world with the cosmic experiences of Herschel. Deeply in the night Haydn looks up to the stars - little time later he composes \"Die Schoepfung\"...
